Marian Bruce trained as a dancer under Dame Marie Rambert and performed with her company in the 1960s.
Her visual art studies began in the 1970s, completing a Master’s Degree in Printmaking at Wimbledon College of Art where she was tutored by Prunella Clough, Ian Tyson and Julia Farrer.
