Drawing - Havana, Cuba, 2017

In a quiet, Hemingway bar on a warm spring evening in Havana 2017 with sea salt drifting on the breeze, I contentedly sipped my ice cold Mojito. End of the day thoughts. Cuban music teasing my spirit, a drawing intrudes on my mind, images of movers at Acosta Danza studios where I had spent the afternoon had to be very urgently recorded.

What you see here, in continuous line drawing, is a small study executed at speed in black biro on the leaf of the novel I was reading at the time. Returning to the UK, translated into an Inkjet print, it was to be the beginning of a mass of visual memories expressed in a variety of mediums.

I hope you can imagine the heat, music and intense vibrancy that is Havana.
